Summer Week 1

In science this week we have been learning about friction and forces. We conducted an experiment testing if we could control which direction a balloon travelled using only the pushing force of air. Without guidance the balloon would fly in all different directions so we attempted to tape the balloon to a straw which had a piece of string threaded through it. We released the air from the balloon and the force of air caused it to travel across the string in a straight line.

We also learned about friction. This affected the experiment because when the balloon moved with the straw it rubbed on the string and caused the balloon to slow down.
