3rd March

World Book Day

We had great fun on World Book Day today. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and there was much excitement upon arrival this morning.

Today, we have had to stay alert for the Drop Everything and Read bell. The children were fantastic at listening out for it and getting stuck in to their reading books. We have also enjoyed listening to the start of Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell who is also the author of our class reader 'The Explorer'.

The children also had the opportunity to recommend books to their peers today using the book reviews they wrote for homework. It was great to hear about many different authors and the children have all gone home today with a list of recommended reads which they would like to find in the shops or reserve on the library website.

This afternoon, we have enjoyed some drama based on the Explorer. The children worked collaboratively to perform a scene from the story. We saw some great collaboration and characterisation.
