On Wednesday 21st January, a team of 8 Otterbourne children competed against 8 Merdon Junior School children in our very first inter-school Chess competition. Thanks to Mr Hinton's thorough preparation, the children knew what to expect and how to respond. They were conversant in castling and adept at en passant! The Otterbourne children won all their matches and the level of competition was impressive. All participants are to be congratulated for their excellent chess-playing and their equally excellent behaviour. The levels of concentration were apparent and the children operated in silence.
Congratulations to James, Ben, Muhammad, Finlay, Jacob, Cameron, Jack and Oliver.
