Autumn 2 in Zebra Class

What a term! We have really enjoyed our class texts this half term of Floodland and A Christmas Carol which has led to some phenomenal writing from my little Zebras! I am so proud of each and every one of them; they have all made so much progress in all areas of their learning.

Autumn One in Zebra Class

Wow, this half term has flown by, but at the same time it feels like we have covered a huge amount of learning and made fantastic progress.

We made the most of the glorious weather and took our learning outside.. The children made crosses which they use in our class collective worship time and we also kicked off our Geography topic by making rivers in the woods!

The continuing beautiful weather brought yet more opportunities for outside learning with maths on the playground, art outside and more geography work as we learned how to use compasses and maps in our Rivers topic.

What came next? Our Y6 trip to Fairthorne, which has got to be a highlight for the children. The follow up writing which has come from this has been incredible. Make sure you check out our photos from this trip on the communal Year 5/6 page. Year 5 enjoyed being at school and completed their Dragon's Den unit, a highlight of the term for them.

We then created playground rivers which showed the children how erosion, transportation and deposition works. This was consolidated with the use of Pringles and biscuits ;)

We then went on school trips to Winchester and saw a real river in action with thanks to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust. We stream dipped, produced sketch maps and ate chips (definitely the children's favourite part!) We also had a go on Chrome Music Lab which the children really enjoyed in their music lesson.

This final week has been tiring for the children, and they have wrapped up their writing today with a visit from Mrs Oldham to show off their letters.

Please enjoy looking at the photos from this half term. We have had a blast!!!

Autumn 1!
