This week has been an action-packed week of learning linked to our topic Violent Earth. The children absolutely loved our Topic Launch on Tuesday when we had our VR Workshops. In the morning, we got to explore volcanoes across the world and locate them on the world map. We learnt about some of the different types of volcanoes and see close up images of them erupting - it was like we were actually there!
This then set us off into a world of vocabulary generation linked to volcanoes in our English lessons. The children's use of figurative language has been particularly exciting and they have loved exploring ways to personify a volcano.
Next week, we will be writing our own stories about a volcano erupting exploring how the mood and atmosphere changes from calm, to angry to sombre. This is all linked to our work on the story 'When the Giant Stirred'.
