In order to maintain a strong sense of identity, inclusion and belonging for all children, we require all pupils to wear full school uniform. Any cultural or religious variations to this must be brought to the attention of the Headteacher. 

With the exception of the school logo on an outer piece of clothing, all other items can be plain and unbranded.  

Please ensure that all items of uniform and sports clothing are clearly labelled, and continue to check that labels have not become detached or worn out over time.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

The school uniform consists of:

For Year R (Reception) and key stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)

• Polo shirt - white (with or without school logo)

For key stage 2 (Years 3-6)

• Plain collared shirt - white*
• Green school tie

* Children with sensory needs can continue to wear polo shirts in Keystage 2.

For all children

• Jumper or cardigan - green with school logo
• Knee length skirt or pinafore dress - grey
• Trousers, knee length shorts (or skorts) - grey
• Gingham dress or playsuit with short sleeves and flat collar - green and white checked
• Socks - plain black, grey or white - without sports branding 
• Tights - grey or green
• Shoes - black - these should be plain, flat and sensible/suitable - not trainers
• Hair accessories - green and simple by design (longer hair should be tied back)
• Children wearing dresses/skirts can additionally wear black shorts (unbranded) for comfort

The following are not part of our school uniform and should not be worn:

• Hoodies (except for Year 6 leavers' hoodies with permission at the end of the year)
• Sports branded clothing (including but not limited to jogging/tracksuit bottoms/shorts)
• Leggings, cycling shorts, Nike Pro style shorts
• Jumpers which are not in our school colour
• Coloured trainers
• Socks not in a school colour
• Bright and oversized hair accessories

Children are encouraged to take pride in their uniform and are expected to wear ties with a smart knot and ensure shirts are tucked in at all times. In hot weather, children can untuck shirts and remove ties. This change will be indicated by the Headteacher.

On (or around) their birthday, children can dress down and wear badges/simple accessories (such as bright headbands) so that everyone can join in their celebrations.  Please consider what we are trying to achieve with our uniform policy when selecting clothing for this special day, and focus on 'celebration' clothes such as (but not limited to) party dresses, smart jeans and shirts.  

Please note that as a Church of England Primary School, our Year 6 children attend the Winchester Cathedral leavers' service in June.  For this formal event, children will be asked to wear full, smart, 'winter' uniform, (which includes: pinafores, skirts, shorts, trousers, jumpers, cardigans, shirts and ties and does not include: playsuits, gingham dresses).  Please consider this when thinking about re-use of uniform at the end of the year in Year 6.  School has small supplies of these items to support families for this occasion. 

 

     

 

PE/SPORTS KIT

When they arrive at school, all children are placed in one of our four houses, which comes with an associated colour.
Children coming into Year R will be assigned a house in the previous term so that parents can make a choice about which PE kit to purchase.

The PE kit consists of:

• T-shirt - plain with a round neck - white or house-coloured 
• Shorts - black and plain design
• Plimsolls for indoor/outdoor use - plain and black design or trainers for outdoor use (optional) – dark colours (excluding therapeutic options where colours are limited)
• Winter kit - additional plain, dark-coloured, jogger bottoms and sweat top

The following are not part of our PE kit and should not be worn:

• Hooded tops
• Branded items - all kit should be plain by design to support our policy of inclusion
• Items of any colour other than plain white or the appropriate house colour
• Coloured trainers (excluding therapeutic options where colours are limited)
• Socks not in a school colour

PE kit should be available in school at all times to allow some flexibility in time-tabling. Kit will be sent home at the end of each half-term for washing and should be returned on the first day of the new half-term. Kit should be kept in a drawstring bag (which should be clearly named).
