Friday
We have reached our final morning of the week and what an amazing journey we have been on!
Last night, we joined the other school staying here around the campfire for some songs and laughter. There was the opportunity to share talents, and we saw some children bravely take to the stage to share their dance moves and songs.
We finished the evening with some extra special and thoughtful reflections on the day and the week overall. It was lovely to hear children recognising deeds of humility (one of our Christian values) where some children had gone out of their way to support others in activities. It was also humbling to see them recognising the achievements of individuals who have faced their fears and developed confidence.
This morning, we will take part in our final challenges, which include both packing up our rooms and the blindfold trail (we're not sure yet which is the easier task)!
We aim to be back at school between 1.45 and 2pm. If your child tries to tell you they can't remember everything they did, please use these photos to help jog their memories. The team have worked hard to capture and upload photos of all the children, but we are based with different groups at different times, sometimes in 4 different locations, with two iPads and limited Wi-Fi, so apologies if we haven't always been successful at this. We hope we have enabled you to feel reassured and updated across the week overall.
Before we leave, I would like to give a huge shout-out and thank you to the dedicated and amazing team that have made this residential possible and sacrificed time with their own families to give your children this opportunity:
To Mrs Davenport, who juggled the office and stayed overnight on Monday and Tuesday.
To Mr Geraghty, who joined us Tuesday evening and Wednesday so that I could teach Year 5.
To Mrs Simpson, who taught Year 5 in school on Monday, before joining us for the rest of the week on Tuesday.
And especially to Mrs Armstrong and Mr O'Dowd, who have been here since Monday morning but are still smiling through their tiredness.
Next week we will be sharing our adventures with Year 5 back in school. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy extra big cuddles today and a quiet weekend with children who should sleep very well!
Kind regards
Mrs Holland
